Step 5:
Add a gradient shine like below, if you don't know how, follow the shine layer tutorial.
![]()
Ctrl+Click the original header layer, make a new layer on top of every other header related layer and name it shadows. Take the brush-tool with a big soft brush (125px) for the top and bottom shadow, and for the left and right sides a smaller (80px) brush.
![]()
Last thing we have to do for the header is add a levels adjustment layer to lighten up this header some more. Hit the New adjustment layer icon
![]()
And choose "Levels", then add these values from left to right, 13, 1.00, 122. Add some extra stuff to this header, I added a text on the hill and a extra practise-shooting-board in front of the text to give it a more detailed look.
![]()
Group all these newly made layers into a group called Header.
Step 6:
Make a new layer called pattern, take the rectangular marquee tool and make a fixed selection of 954px width, and 8px height. Make the selection and fill it with white.
![]()
Then make a new document (Ctrl+N) 3px by 3px, to make our last pattern we need for this template. And make a pattern like below.

Go to our template project and right-click the pattern layer, and choose blending options, change the gradient overlay, and pattern overlay to the values below.

Duplicate the pattern layer, HOLD shift and press down 4 times, this should give you the following result.
![]()
Step 7:
Make a new layer called "Menubar", Make a fixed selection with 954px width and 27px height, and fill it with #07090d. We want the both left and right menu to be 200px wide, so we need some sort of measuring layer, so make a fixed selection of 200px width, leave the height as it is. make a new layer and fill it with a noticeable color, like red. Now cut out a 2px width piece out of the menubar layer outside our measurement like so.
![]()
And do the same on the right as seen above. Hide the measurement layer.
Step 8:
Select the gradient tool, hit D then X to make white the foreground color, select the foreground to background gradient.

Ctrl+ click the menubar layer, make a new layer called shine. And make a shine somewhat similar to mine. My shine was started from outside the selection, just experiment until you have a result you like. I did nothing with the blending options so this result was only done with what I explained above.
To finish of the shine we need to make it look like a indent shine, which I personally like A LOT. Ctrl+Click the menubar layer, select the shine layer, go to > Select > Modify > Contract use a 1px value, hit OK. Hit Ctrl+Shift+I to make the selection inverse and hit delete on your keyboard to delete the outer 1px edge of the shine, which should give you the result below.
![]()
Step 9:
Make indent lines with a 1px pencil-tool, for the light lines I used #FFFFFF, and for the dark lines I used #b2bbc4. the lines are placed 1px below the pattern layer and in the gap of the deleted part of the menubar. Place all newly made layers in a group called "Menubar". That's basically our main design but we need some finishing touches.
