Intro:
This tutorial will cover on how to make a 3D look text and a smooth glowing text animation.
Step 1:
Open up photoshop and create a new file with dimensions 600x200 pixels. I used #313e58 as the background color.
Make the foreground color: #111111 and type your preffered text with the text tool (I used the font Abaddon, you can download it on dafont.com). I resized my text vertically with the free transform function (edit > free transform / Ctrl+T).
NOTE: All preview images are downsized to fit this design
Step 2:
Now we're gonna make the text 3D looking.
Select your text layer in the layers pallette, HOLD Alt and press the up arrow 7 times. This will copy and paste the layer and moves it one pixel up, this way you can make text/interfaces look 3D. You could also go the other ways with the arrows on your keyboard to make a different angle 3D look.

We have all black layers so we can't see the 3D look very well, We have to fix this now by editing the blending options on the top text layer.
Right click the top text layer then choose Blending options.

Step 3:
Now we're gonna make the top layer more shiny by using another layer on top called a shine.
Make a new layer Ctrl+shit+N, name this layer shine, take the gradient tool ![]()
And select the foreground to background gradient

Reset the colors (D on your keyboard) then switch the colors (X on your keyboard), this will make the foreground white really easy.
Now make a selection of the top text layer, HOLD ctrl then click the top text layer. With that selection active and the gradient tool selected make a gradiant from top to bottom of the selection.
Set the shine layer to mode: overlay and the opacity on: 74%, this can all be done in the layers pallette.
Step 4:
Duplicate the top TEXT layer (so not the shine layer), name this layer GLOW. And change the outer glow to the setting below.

* It now looks very bright but we'll fix this later!

Now we have all our materials to make this glowing layer an animation glow, but we have to do this in imageready which I'll explain in the next steps.
First save the PSD!!!
