Free Tutorials explained

Celoxdesign is a webdesign community & company offering high quality tutorials in several categories such as Adobe Photoshop, Maxon Cinema 4D, Cascading stylesheets and xHTML.
I drive myself to give all my knowledge back to the design community for free and will continue doing this for a long time.

A new added feature on Celoxdesign is the guest tutorials section, this section will house tutorials written by my guests/members, some of them are even better tutorials that I've written over the past years. Register yourself and submit your own guest tutorials to give something back to the design community.

Forum quietness
It has been to quiet in the forums the last months, so to breath a little life into her I'm going to organize Signature of the week contests again. The sign-ups for the first of the rest SOTWs starts Monday, you can sign-up in that entire week (Mon-Sun). Usually Goomy the CD Forum moderator would organize these contests but she is pretty busy with work, but no worries I can manage on my own for the time being.

Temporary custom skin
The forum has a temporary custom skin, the original PHPBB3 skin was just to different from the main site's design. This temporary skin has been modded by me, (some colors and the background gradient). I will be making a Celox custom skin (or: Culox skin) soon, but this one will do for now.

Guest tutorials
I've seen some people already found there way to the guest turorials submission form, so thanks for submitting your Photoshop (and other) tutorials. But before the launch of the Guest tutorials section I want some more tutorials added to the database, so what are you waiting for, submit a guest tutorial! You'll get a back-link to your own site which will improve your Search-engine ranking.

There's now a new function in the tutorials section, you can now have your own tutorials published. Of course it wouldn't be fair if you didn't get something in return for your tutorials, so that's why I'll place a real back-link to your site at the end of the tutorial. This is a great way to gain quality back-links to your tutorial site from a 100% related site, this will most definitely boost your site up in the search results. Celoxdesign has 10000+ unique visitors each week so the link will probably send you a lot of traffic too. Below is proof of the 10000+ unique visits, keep in mind though that we're now in week 37.

Tracking is done by xtremetracking.com and is accurate.
Website weekly stats

So get your own tutorials published on a related website for free and get a real back-link. If the tutorial is of very high quality I might even pay you for it via Paypal, with of course adding the back-link to your site too.

It's been a while since I've updated the Photoshop tutorials section, it was REALLY necessary to come with a new tutorial. Had quite a list in my to-do list of tutorials and saw a note that I never did a a neat menu bar tutorial. I think the outcome of the tutorial is pretty awesome and hope you feel the same way, if not, whatever Happy.

Hey Folks,

There's been a slight delay on this news post because I had other things to do, like helping my brother take out tiles on a balcony (quite a job I must say). So what I had in mind for the revised version of Celoxdesign is a couple of things: Having a kick ass design with my new Cinema4D skills Happy, and have less annoying advertisements.

The Design:
As for my previous 2-3 designs I wanted really light-weight designs to minimize loading time, though for this design I went for a total different direction. I started by making a wallpaper piece in Cinema4D, when I'd finished I kinda went from there with the template in Photoshop. Normally I do it reversed but I actually like this order better.

The ads:
I was a member for Kontera already so I've added these ads instead of the annoying flashy banner ads from Valueclick, the Kontera ads are less in your face compared to the Valueclick ads.

The rest:
The phpBB forum script is also updated to the new 3.0 version, though this version is still in beta but after some testing I've came to the conclusion that it's pretty stable already and converted the old forum.

Someone via email suggested to make a tutorial on the C4D 3D text (Thanks Aron!). A well explained beginners tutorial will follow soon (probably somewhere this week I'll have it finished). Though, I have to make some adjustments to the menu for this since I don't have a C4D category at the moment.

There's also been major improvements for the shoutbox script. For instance I added a bunch of extra anti-spambot security, like 2 hidden form fields, a bad words check (this one checks words commonly used by spambots here on Celoxdesign), an improved HTML checker, and of course the most obvious one a new Captcha security image. Let's hope the spam days at Celoxdesign are over, at least for the time being Happy

I know you can rotate different color schemes in 1 Google adsense code, but I was wondering if it was legal to rotate the Google Adsense codes on your site. For example I now rotate 6 different Adsense codes with the same colors, so only the sizes are differently. Now before I implemented this PHP script I mailed the Google Adsense support team about this matter and they wrote the following.

Hi Jeroen,

We do permit publishers to rotate the AdSense script.

Please keep in mind that a maximum of three regular ad units and one link unit may be placed on one webpage. In addition, please be aware that every publisher is responsible for the content of a website on which their ad code is placed. If a website is found in violation of our program policies, we will notify any publisher(s) whose ad code is on the website, and ask you to remove the Google code from that page.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Sean
The Google AdSense Team

That should clear it all up for everyone that has question marks on this matter (like I had).

When I came to Tutorialized today to submit my Page-curl tutorial I was shocked, at first I thought the site was hacked, but soon enough I saw Kurt's news post that Tutorialized is sold. The new owner seems to like to bomb the site with advertising which is a huge let down for everyone, it just looks to cluttered! I count 9 blocks of advertising at this point.. geez. Oh well it should be a pretty nice income for the guy with 9 adblocks and 50000+ unique visitors a day.

Btw, sorry for no click-able links to Tutorialized, the new owner just doesn't deserve a link back! Happy

As promised in the previous news post, the tutorial pagination is online. It was a bit hard at first but got it all to work eventually, tomorrow I will update the other pages that contain pagination to the new pagination format. If you find any bugs at all please notify me via the contact form so it can be fixed, thanks.

Recently I had to make an account online for which I had to use my hotmail account for, which I HARDLY use Happy. I saw a nice effect they used for there switch from MSN Hotmail to Windows Live Hotmail. And thought it would be cool to make a tutorial out of it since a lot of people would find it interesting cause it's a pretty nifty effect. If your still reading at this point here's the tutorial: Make a Page-curl in photoshop.
